- The precursor of Vinacomin - Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company was a friendly co-operation project between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union, which was established following Decision No. 214-CT dated Jul 03, 1985.
- In Aug 1988, the Ministry of Coal and Mining issued Decision No 1019-NL-TCCB-LD dated Aug 24, 1988 on establishing Nui Beo Coal Mine under Hon Gai Coal Company.
- In 1996, the Ministry of Industry Issued Decision No. 2603/QD-TCCB dated Sep 17, 1996 on converting Nui Beo Coal Mine into a state enterprise with independent accounting system under Vietnam National Coal Corporation (now known as Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group or Vinacomin in short).
- In 2001, it was renamed Vinacomin - Nui Beo Coal Company, which had one subsidiary with dependent accounting system called Hon Gai Mechanical Factory.
- In 2005, the company was equitized following Decision No. 3936/QD-BCN dated Nov 30, 2005 of the Minister of Industry.
- The company was granted business registration certificate No. 2203000575 dated Apr 01, 2006 by Quang Ninh Department of Planning and Investment with initial charter capital of VND 60 billlion.
- On Dec 207, 2006, the company’s shares were officially listed on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange.
- From 2011, the company increased its shared to VND 60 billion to VND 250 billion via issuing bonus shares.
- On Jul 11, 2013, its charter capital was adjusted to VND 279.986.260.000
