Introduction

Vietnam Plastic Corporation, also known as VINAPLAST, manufactures packaging plastic products for industry, agriculture, fishery, transportation, construction, post and telecommunication, and consumer products markets. It offers shrinkable films, overwraps, stretch films, aluminum foils, and shopping bags; bottles, plastic cans and buckets, three layer bottles, and PET plastic bottles; battery plastic covers; spare parts for electrical and electronic appliances, and garment and construction markets; and household plastic products, PVC resins and compounds, and PET bands. The company also imports and exports various spare parts and accessories; and materials, chemicals, and additives for the plastic industry. In addition, it offers services, such as investment consultation, research, training, technology, and transferring. The company was founded in 1960 and is based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

  • 1960: Some first state owed plastic factories were established. All these firms later became members of VINAPLAST.
  • 1976: Sundries Company was established with the main products including plastic products, footwear, detergent, metallic household ware, stationary, ...
  • 1987: Sundries Company was renamed as the Union of Plastic and Sundries Enterprises. Main products of the Union were plastic, metallic household ware and stationery.
  • 1989: Vietnam Plastic Union for Production and Import - Export was moved from the Union of platic and Sundries Enterprises, international transaction name was VINAPLAST.
  • 1990: Vietnam Plastic Manufacturers' Association (VPMA) was established.
  • VINAPLAST was the core of this organisation.
  • 1995: Vietnam Plastic Union for Production and Import - Export had been changed as Vietnam Plastic Company retaining its international transaction name as VINAPLAST.
  • 1996: Vietnam National Plastic Corporation was established, its international transaction name was still VINAPLAST.
  • 2003: Vietnam Plastic Corporation, suceeding the right and obligation of Vietnam National Plastic Corporation, was established. The unchanged transaction name is VINAPLAST.
  • October, 2008: Changing to Joint Stock Company with the unchanged company name: Vietnam Plastic Corporation with VND 198 billion in capital. Later, its charter capital was adjusted to VND 194.289.130.000 to match with its paid-up value.
