It is involved in the investment, construction, and operation of technical infrastructure for urban and industrial parks, apartments, and office buildings, as well as provision of services for the real estate industry. The company also offers education services; and primarily exports frozen seafood, agricultural products, indoor and outdoor wood furniture, handicrafts, raw material for metal industry, etc., as well as imports consumer goods, equipment and construction materials, processed foods, medical equipment, etc. In addition, it provides strategic investment and financial services; and invests in companies operating in the production and mining of granite quarries and sand. The company was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

History
- The precursor of Foreign Trade Development and Investment Corporation of Ho Chi Minh City was Ho Minh City Fisheries Development Corporation, which was established in 1989 under Decision No. 144/QĐ-UB dated Mar 31, 1989 of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
- Later on, the corporation had become more diverse and changed its name to Foreign Trade Development and Investment Corporation of Ho Chi Minh City (FIDECO) under Decision No.693/QĐ-UB dated Dec 03, 1991 of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
- Being approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on Dec 23, 1993, the company changed into a joint stock company with the same name as FIDECO, operating under the company's law.
- As of Dec 31, 2009, FIDECO’s member companies include: HAVICO Corporation, OREXCO Corporation, FUTAN Furniture Company, Chon Thanh Indutrial Park Corporation, FIDECO Land Corporation, FIDECO Traban Corporation, Dong Binh Duong Urban Development Co., Ltd, and Phuoc An Food Company.
- As of Dec 31, 2009, the company's charter capital was VND 142.976.990.000.
- On Jan 18, 010, the company's shares were officially listed on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange.
- In Jan 2013, it was announced that the company's charter capital was adjusted to VND212,383,860,000.
- On Mar 04, 2014, its charter capital was adjusted to VND 276.099.880.000.
